
Bangladesh-based e-commerce platforms have registered a 25 per cent year-on-year growth ahead of the holy festival of Eid.
Media reports claimed this citing data from the E-commerce Association of Bangladesh (E-Cab) while adding this was primarily due to increased online shopping by the end customers to avoid the traffic hassles and cash transactions.
As per the E-Cab, from 15th March to 10th April, e-commerce platforms earned around Taka 38 billion, which is a significant increase from what was Taka 30 billion in terms of transactions recorded a month before Eid-ul Fitr in 2022.
This year, in a rough assessment till 10th April, a 60 per cent growth was found compared to the previous month even if in terms of lifestyle products, the growth has been almost 400 per cent ahead of the festive season (Eid and Pahela Baishakh), in the meanwhile reportedly claimed the Finance Secretary of E-Cab, Asif Ahnaf.
