Following several letters sent by Springlake-Earth Independent School to Dollar General to start a store in their community, the latter finally plans to open its 1,500 store in Earth, Texas on 4 May 2019.
At a function, held on 1 May at the Springlake-Earth Independent School District campus, Jeff Owen, Executive Vice President of Store Operations and Development, Dollar General, presented a donation of US $ 50,000 to the school to enhance school’s literacy programme.
He said that the donation was a part of Dollar General’s Reading Revolution programme that focuses on helping schools purchase books, computers and other educational materials to promote education.
The Reading Revolution programme, since its initiation in 2013, has provided over US $ 2.9 million to schools.
