Circularity-focused marketplace Depop is to launch a series of high-profile temporary stores over six months in partnership with retail pop-up provider Sook.
Oxford Street and South Molton Street in London, the Birmingham Bullring, Liverpool One, and Edinburgh’s St James Quarter are among the notable locations.
The company launched a partnership last month to bring online retailers into physical venues, and it has now released further information about the collaboration.
Four immersive pop-ups will debut in London in November and December, “encouraging more people to shop secondhand while reviving the high street for the Christmas Party season,” according to Depop.
The London free-to-attend events will “bring the best of Depop to life” on 30th November and four times in December (15th-16th and 22nd-24th).
The events will bring 11 distinct sellers into Sook’s pop-up venues in Central London, beginning on November 30 with streetwear brand Kathandrosa taking over its South Molton Street room with an edit of curated vintage and Y2K pieces.
“It’s all about encouraging sellers to connect with their fans in real life and reaching new audiences of fashion-conscious consumers in the capital”, Depop said.
Then, for two days (15th-16th December), Celiapops, Alicefletchf, and Reloadedldn will present their curated collections of Y2K styles, handpicked designer, and original designs to Sook’s Oxford Street retail location.
They will be followed by Chrissynx, Shophenri, Jwarren, and Katierowe100, who will be showcasing their curated vintage and 00’s designs in Oxford Street from the 22nd to the 24th of December.
Imdesigns, Elianaavinntage, and Ellboll will round up the 2023 series on 30th December, with further pop-ups planned across the country in 2024, according to the press release.
The event series has been made possible through ‘Powered by Depop’, a programme that gives “sellers the tools to take their business offline and aims to promote the purchase of circular fashion”.
Steve Dool, Director of Brand and Marketing at Depop, added: “By partnering with Sook, we hope we can reach and inspire more people to look to circular fashion options that are kinder to the planet, rather than buying new.”
