Canada Goose has announced the appointment of Daniel Binder as president, Asia Pacific, as part of a wider reshuffle of senior leadership at the luxury outerwear company, which also includes the departure of its North America president.
Binder, who will continue in his role as chief transformation officer, will assume responsibility for the Asia Pacific market from April. As part of the transition, he will step down from his current position as executive vice-president, global stores.
He will be succeeded in that role by Niclas Ekerot, who joins Canada Goose as senior vice-president, global stores with immediate effect.
Ekerot brings more than 25 years of experience in luxury retail, having previously held senior leadership roles at Bottega Veneta, Michael Kors, Gucci and, most recently, Burberry. Canada Goose said his background in global retail operations, brand elevation and customer experience would play a key role as the company continues to strengthen and expand its global retail footprint.
The leadership changes also follow the decision by Jonathan Sinclair to step down as president, Asia Pacific. Sinclair, a former chief financial officer of the company, will remain involved as a board member of Canada Goose’s regional subsidiaries.
Separately, Ana Mihaljevic, president of North America, will leave the Toronto-based company in February after more than a decade in leadership roles at Canada Goose. Carrie Baker, president of brand and commercial, will assume interim responsibility for the North America business.
Canada Goose said the management changes were intended to support continued growth in key global markets, unlock regional potential and ensure leadership continuity as the company advances its long-term strategy.
Chairman and chief executive officer Dani Reiss said the company was grateful to Sinclair and Mihaljevic for their long-standing service and contributions, noting that their leadership had helped establish a strong foundation for the company’s next phase. He added that Binder’s experience in driving transformation and Ekerot’s expertise in luxury retail would be critical as Canada Goose scales its Asia Pacific business and enhances its retail experience worldwide.
