Avenue Supermarts Ltd, the owner and operator of the D-Mart retail chain, reported an 18.27% increase in consolidated net profit to Rs. 855.78 crore (US $ 94.88 million) for the December quarter of FY ’26, supported by steady revenue growth and controlled costs.
The company had posted a net profit of Rs. 723.54 crore (US $ 80.21 million) in the corresponding quarter a year earlier, according to a regulatory filing. Revenue from operations rose 13.32% year on year to Rs. 18,100.88 crore (US $ 2.01 billion), compared with Rs. 15,972.55 crore (US $ 1.77 billion) in the October–December quarter of the previous financial year.
In its earnings statement, the company said its profit after tax margin improved to 4.7% in the third quarter of FY ’26, up from 4.5% in the same period last year.
Total expenses during the quarter increased by 13% to Rs. 16,942.62 crore (US $ 1.87 billion). Including other income, Avenue Supermarts reported total income of Rs. 18,117.81 crore (US $ 2.01 billion), marking a 13.25% rise year on year.
Anshul Asawa, chief executive officer–designate, said revenue growth during the quarter was partly affected by deflation in staple categories.
Alongside the quarterly results, the board approved the appointment of Asawa as chief executive officer. He will become a key managerial personnel of the company from 1st February 2026 and will take over as managing director for a three-year term from 1st April 2026, subject to shareholder approval.
The company said Ignatius Navil Noronha will step down from his role as managing director and chief executive officer at the close of business on 31st January 2026. Noronha, whose current term ends in January next year, had earlier indicated that he would not seek a renewal. Avenue Supermarts had announced Asawa’s appointment as CEO-designate last year, marking a planned leadership transition.
Promoted by Radhakishan Damani and his family, D-Mart operates a network of stores selling basic household and personal care products across several states, including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, the National Capital Region, Tamil Nadu, Punjab and Rajasthan.
