Japanese sportswear company, ASICS has inked a multi-year agreement with the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) to become their official supplier of sportswear and shoes for the IPC and the Independent Paralympic Athletes teams at official events till 2020.
IPC is highly confident that ASICS will adopt all possible ways to popularize and develop sports. Additionally, ASICS will also give competition kit to around 300 Paralympic athletes throughout the year in 2020, the Paralympic Games take place.
The global sports brand, known for its upper price range products, has been the official supplier of World Para Athletics since September 2016. The agreement has now been extended till the end of 2020.
From 2019, this will extend to all officials of World Para Swimming, World Para Powerlifting, and World Shooting Para Sports, including the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
“It is thrilling to support the International Paralympic Committee as an official supplier,” said ASICS chairman and chief executive Motoi Oyama.
“We are particularly delighted at the commitment of Asics to support the Independent Paralympic Athletes team and a number of developing NPCs on the road to Tokyo 2020,” IPC President Andrew Parsons was quoted as saying in media reports.
