
Under Armour, the American apparel company, has announced the appointment of Robert Sweeney, Eugene Smith, and Dawn Fitzpatrick to its board of directors.
Currently, Fitzpatrick serves as a non-executive director at Barclays plc, where she sits on the sustainability, risk, and compensation committees. She is also part of the Financial Sector Advisory Council at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.
Smith, an expert in athletic leadership, most recently served as athletic director and senior vice president at Ohio State University from 2005 to 2024. His past roles include athletic director at Arizona State, the first Black president of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), and president of the Division I-A Athletics Directors Association.
Sweeney has been president of Sycamore Partners, a private equity firm focused on retail, distribution, and consumer investments, since 2019. Prior to that, he spent 22 years at Goldman Sachs, where he was a partner and global head of retail and consumer investment banking.
Mohamed El-Erian, chair of Under Armour’s board, stated that Dawn and Rob bring significant financial and operational expertise, while Gene contributes deep experience in intercollegiate sports leadership—making all threevaluable additions to the board.
