The Arcadia Group, owned by Sir Philip Green, has said that it will be rescheduling some of the orders of its suppliers amidst the new lockdown that began in England last week.
The Group, which owns reputed fashion labels like Topshop/Topman and Dorothy Perkins, amongst others, has told its suppliers that it has to review the effect of the lockdown on all its stock levels.
Consequently, the retailer has temporarily halted some of its shipments for Autumn/Winter ’20 and Spring/Summer ’20 at the ports.
Notably, all the shipments are ready and are waiting at the ports.
Though the Group has agreed to pay for the goods halted at the ports, it has added to the worries of the suppliers.
The suppliers now fear that any further delay in shipment would delay payments and thereby make them insecure and shaky.
Some suppliers have, reportedly, complained that goods have been turned away from ports without any notice.
Meanwhile, the Group has said that it has rescheduled the delivery of very small volume of goods and therefore only a small number of suppliers will be impacted. They also denied cancelling any orders.
The British retailer, which also owns Burton and Evans, has its headquarters in London and is known for its apparels and shoes.
