E-commerce major Amazon India, on the other hand, has refuted the claims underlining that it wouldn’t like to believe any ‘speculative reports’.
“We cannot comment on speculative reports without transparent methodology,” said an Amazon representative, adding, “The Great Indian Festival has given lakhs of sellers and hundreds of brands their festive season on Amazon.in.”
RedSeer, in its report on the festive season sales, had claimed that while Flipkart and Amazon together posted 90 per cent of the total online sales during the week-long festive sale, Flipkart alone accounted for 68 per cent of the gross merchandise value (GMV).
The report also presented that goods worth Rs. 29,000 crore (US $ 4.1 billion) were sold on e-commerce platforms during the said sale period, showing 55 per cent year-on-year growth in sales.
