Sutlej Textiles and Industries Ltd., India’s leading company, has added another feather in its cap as the company has gone for backward integration and started recycled polyester fibre at Baddi (Himachal Pradesh).
The company is producing ‘Green Fibre’ at this unit turning waste PET bottles into fibre. This unit (Birla Textile Mills) can produce 120 metric tonnes of green fibres every day.
Jai Ram Thakur, Chief Minister, Himachal Pradesh; Chandra Shekhar Nopany, Chairman, Updeep Singh, President and CEO and Rajeev Gupta, Executive President, and many others were present during the inauguration ceremony of Sutlej Green Fibre unit.
Jai Ram Thakur congratulated the company for this project and assured full support to the textile industry in the state.
Chandrashekhar Nopani, Executive Chairman of Sutlej Textiles, said that this second unit of the Group would produce 120 metric tonnes of polyester and about 3,200 persons had been provided employment at the two units established in Baddi.
Rajeev Gupta, Executive President of the company told Apparel Resources, “We have invested Rs. 239 crore in this project and it will help us to have better control over quality and will have assured supply.”
He further added that depending on the requirement, almost 80 per cent fibre produced in this plant will be for in-house consumption. “We convert 70 lakh PET bottles into polyester every day, doing our bit in sustainability,” he said.
