The Uttar Pradesh Government is accelerating efforts to transform the state into one of India’s leading textile hubs through the development of the PM MITRA Park project, which will span 1,000 acres — 730 acres in Lucknow and 270 acres in Hardoi.
Once completed, the park is expected to attract investments of over Rs. 10,000 crore (US $ 1.12 billion) and generate both direct and indirect employment for more than one lakh people.
According to officials, the state’s Handloom and Textile Department has already signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with 95 industrial units, including several prominent domestic and international companies, to drive the growth of the textile industry in Uttar Pradesh.
A Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) named PM MITRA Park Uttar Pradesh Limited has been established to operate and manage the park. The Uttar Pradesh government holds a 51% stake in the SPV, while the Government of India holds the remaining 49%.
Several major companies have expressed interest in establishing units within the park. These include:
- Aditya Birla Group – Spinning and weaving unit on 30 acres
- GESL Spinners – Technical textile yarn unit on 20 acres
- Ajool Denimkart – Denim fabric unit on 15 acres
- SAVM Inc D – Garment manufacturing unit on 25 acres
- Geosis India – Geogrid technical textiles unit on 25 acres
- TT Limited – Garment unit on 5 acres
- RGI Meditech – Sanitary napkins and diapers unit on 2.5 acres
- VD Group – Polypropylene fabric unit on 10 acres
- Maral Overseas – Garment manufacturing unit on 5 acres
- Okhla Garment and Textile Cluster – Garment manufacturing hub on 125 acres (currently under discussion).
Officials stated that the PM MITRA Park will significantly strengthen textile production capacity in Uttar Pradesh while advancing the state’s position in the technical textiles and garment manufacturing sectors, both nationally and internationally.
They added that the project reflects Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision of making Uttar Pradesh a key player in India’s textile and apparel ecosystem, offering world-class infrastructure, policy support, and sustainable industrial development.
