
Rüdiger Lotz, German Ambassador to Bangladesh, paid a courtesy call on BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan at the BGMEA Complex in Dhaka. Ways to strengthen and enhance bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Germany were discussed during the meeting.
In order to maintain market competitiveness, Khan gave a summary of Bangladesh’s RMG sector and outlined its top priorities, which included decarbonisation projects, product diversification with an emphasis on non-cotton clothing and being ready for due diligence compliance.
Ambassador Lotz highlighted the significance of ongoing environmental and social breakthroughs while acknowledging the industry’s tremendous progress. He also emphasised Bangladesh’s efforts to gain access to EU markets under GSP+ after becoming a middle-income nation.
BGMEA Senior Vice President – Inamul Khan – Bablu; Vice President (Finance) – Mijanur Rahman; Vice President – Shehab Udduza Chowdhury; and Directors – Shah Rayeed Chowdhury, Nafis-Ud-Doula, Fahima Akhter, Rumana Rashid and Mohammed Sohel were present during the meeting.
