E-commerce giant Flipkart has partnered with payment solutions provider BillDesk to expand its digital payment offerings. As part of a broader initiative to promote cashless transactions, the Walmart-owned company has introduced five new payment categories with BillDesk.
“We have diversified our selection of services in line with Flipkart’s vision to simplify the digital payments journey for customers and further the government’s vision of a cashless economy,” said Gaurav Arora, Flipkart’s Vice President of Payments and SuperCoins, as reported by India Retailing.
With BillDesk, Flipkart has introduced new recharge and bill payment categories, including landline, broadband, and mobile postpaid bill payments, as well as FasTag and DTH recharges, all of which can be completed on the Flipkart mobile app. These new services complement existing ones like prepaid mobile recharging and electricity bill payment.
The new payment services have been integrated into the Bharat Bill Payments System with BillDesk’s assistance, a system rolled out by the National Payments Corporation of India. This year, Flipkart has expanded its payment options significantly and also partnered with Axis Bank in March to launch its own United Payments Interface handle to facilitate both online and offline merchant transactions on Flipkart and beyond.
