The Thailand Textile Institute (THTI) has prepared 15-year strategies to develop the Thai textile industry and to shape the country as a leader in fashion and textile design by 2030 globally. The declaration was made by Pramote Withayasuk, Vice Minister for Industry at THTI’s textile and fashion annual conference in Bangkok. The 15-year plan is divided into three phases. In the first phase, the body will develop Thailand as a regional centre for fashion and textile trade by 2016, and promote relevant business operators in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). In the second phase, THTI will set up the country as a centre for product designing and development for globally popular brands by 2021. In the final phase, it will promote Thailand as a global leader in fashion culture and textile design by incorporating contemporary cultures with significant industries.
