Gurgaon based buying office India Sourcing which is specializing in kids organic product sourcing has put up its own manufacturing unit in Gurgaon. While interacting with Apparel Online Poonam Mehrotra, the co-founder of the buying office shares, “Just about two months back we commissioned our manufacturing unit with 75 sewing machines. We have had the support of our exporters all through our journey but there are certain products like preemie garments (for new-born), value-added kidswear besides some other items which need additional care during production, so we have setup the unit to manufacture the same under our eyes.”
India Sourcing is mainly handling very niche buyers from Sweden, Denmark, Germany and US. Besides baby and kidswear, the buying offices sources home furnishing products as well and has created niche by sticking to organic cotton products. “As an environmentally conscious couple, we always cared for the environment and liked others also doing the same. We first came across organic cotton in the year 2006 when our daughter was born and we realized this was something that really could be beneficial for one and all. We slowly started exploring the area and grew from strength to strength,” avers Poonam whose current production is around 10,000 pieces per month.
While talking about her background and venture into her own buying operations Poonam says, “The company was co-founded by me and my husband Nishit Mehrotra in 2008 and both of us are GMTians from NIFT. We graduated in 2000 and subsequently worked in renowned buying agencies sourcing garments for global customers like Speedo, Quiksilver, Converse, Everlast, Nordstrom to name a few.
