Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty Kundra has collaborated with fashion consultant Ashmika Sadh to establish a new venture, marking her entry into the children’s clothing sector. Their new kidswear venture, Zip Zap Zoop, is a line of clothing for kids and teenagers that aims to redefine the industry landscape.
With her new kidswear brand, Shetty endeavours to push the boundaries and transform the children’s clothing industry, as stated by the company. Shetty wanted to understand the manufacturing process, ensuring that dyes are chemical-free, fabrics are azo-free, and environmentally sustainable, as well as being friendly for kids.
According to the brand, 80 per cent of its collection consists of sustainable fabrics such as organic cotton and recycled polyester, which have a lower environmental impact and produce less waste. Additionally, the brand has directly and indirectly employed over 100 workers and aims to create more job opportunities in the future, with a target of reaching 1000 workers under the Zip Zap Zoop brand.
Zip Zap Zoop will debut with 500 styles, offering a range of styles and sizes for both boys and girls, covering ages 0-19, with the intention of ensuring inclusivity for all children. The brand aims to simplify choices for parents and children, with the goal of cultivating a loyal customer base in the upcoming months.
The children’s apparel market caters to children aged 0 to 14 years. According to a report, India’s children’s apparel market reached a value of US $ 21.1 billion in 2022 and is projected to grow at a CAGR of 2.6 per cent to US $ 24.5 billion by 2028. In May last year, online children’s apparel retailer Hopscotch announced that its parent company, Hit the Mark, Inc., had secured US $ 20 million in funding led by Amazon. This compels renowned figures to explore this sector and also brace themselves for competition.
