Spanish fashion label Scalpers has experienced a 31.5 per cent increase in its sales in 2023, amounting to € 200 million compared to € 152 million in 2022, as reported by the company in a statement.
The group’s revenues have once again been led by the internet channel, which increased by 30 per cent in 2023 and now makes up 23 per cent of overall sales. In addition to running its own global website, Scalpers offers their goods on a number of marketplaces, including About You, Zalando, Asos, El Corte Inglés, La Redoute, and Privalia.
As a result, at the end of the previous year, the fashion company employed over 1400 people directly and had 333 places of sale spread across seven countries, including freestanding stores and corners within El Corte Inglés and Palacio de Hierro in Mexico.
By constructing two new flagship locations in Madrid and Seville in 2023 and launching the brand’s new retail model, which emphasises expansive areas in the major tourist areas of the cities, Scalpers increased its footprint in Spain.
However, the growth rates for the Scalpers Woman line were also noticeably greater than the market norm. With 146 independent or joint points of sale with other business lines, it represented 25 per cent of the company’s sales in 2023.
Meanwhile, Invited Brands, the online marketplace where it offers goods from other brands, now boasts over 150 labels, including international (like Smeg and New Balance) and domestic (like Hoffman, Pompeii, and Camper), with two physical points of sale at its new flagship stores in Madrid and Seville.
With respect to 2024, Scalpers anticipates “positive prospects” for Spain as well as the global market, highlighting the company’s growth in Portugal, where business grew by 22 per cent in 2023 to reach 15 points of sale; in Mexico, where there are 23 points of sale and a 41 per cent growth; and in Chile, where business has increased by 26 per cent.
In an effort to increase its presence in Europe, the fashion brand has also partnered with foreign companies in Belgium, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Italy, and Spain.
