E-commerce giant Flipkart has seen an increase in online shopping from rural consumers with fashion being among the the platform’s most popular in 2023, the business announced in its ‘FlipTrends Report 2023’.
“The FlipTrends report 2023 shows consumer behaviour in a country that is possibly the most diverse when it comes to shopper profiles,” said Flipkart’s senior vice president of analytics and data science Ravi Vijaya Raghavan in a press release. Flipkart expects this winter festive season to see positive consumer sentiment continue.
More than 500 million registered users’ data were examined in the brand’s analysis. This year, consumers spent seven hours on average on Flipkart’s online store, and as of November, the company had added over 41 million new clients.
When Flippi, the company’s Chat-GPT-powered shopping support product, was introduced in October, over four million people interacted with it. Flipkart discovered that the Tier-1, 2, and 3 cities with the fullest shopping carts were Trivandrum, Patna, Lucknow, Ludhiana, Varanasi, Ernakulam, Guwahati and Cuttack, Medinipur, and Bankura. This trend was observed as the number of non-metro customers continued to climb.
