Decathlon, the French sporting goods brand, has opened its first large-format store in Chennai, covering approximately 13,000 sq.ft.
Decathlon shared the news of the store’s opening on its LinkedIn page, expressing excitement about the new location. The company stated, “We are thrilled to announce that our brand-new store is now open at the stunning Marina Mall in Egattur, OMR, Chennai. This is more than just a store; it’s an experience waiting to be explored.”
According to a mall official’s LinkedIn post, this new outlet represents Decathlon’s first large-format store in Chennai. Mohammed Moin, Head of Leasing at The Marina Mall, commended the Decathlon Sports India team for their remarkable achievement in opening the store.
The store offers a diverse range of sports apparel and equipment for men, women, and children, covering various categories, including outdoor, water sports, fitness, racket sports, team sports, cycling, running, walking, roller sports, and target sports. Additionally, it features a 350 sq.ft. digital play/experience area.
In 2009, the company entered the Indian market, initially as a cash-and-carry retailer, and gained approval for single-brand retail in 2013. Today, Decathlon operates more than 100 stores across India.
