Nike will once again carry Kobe Bryant footwear and clothing. Apparently, Nike CEO John Donahoe announced that the fan-favorite brand would return on 24th August, Kobe Day 2023.
In 2003, Kobe Bryant started collaborating with the apparel company. After Bryant’s sad passing in 2020, the relationship between Bryant and Nike came to an end in 2021. Since then, only a small number of releases have been made available for purchase through official drops. Additionally, the company and Vanessa Bryant, the widow of the NBA icon, were not consulted before the release of the sneakers from the collaboration.
The two organisations’ connection was said to have been reinstated in March 2022. A new agreement between the Kobe Bryant estate and Nike allowed the legacy to live on. At the time, it was claimed that the rebrand’s main goals were to support a younger audience and promote youth sports participation.
“Kobe Bryant means so much to so many of us, not just NBA fans but globally beyond the game,” expressed Jonahoe when the deal was publicised.
