
Bangladesh can achieve around 20 per cent growth in terms of exports by cutting the logistics cost.
As per reports, this was maintained by the experts, economists and entrepreneurs while addressing a workshop titled Formulation of National Logistics Industry Development Policy for Bangladesh: Experience from Global Good Practices in capital city Dhaka recently.
Speaking at the event, the Global Lead of the Regional Connectivity and Logistics Knowledge Group at the World Bank Martha B Lawrence reportedly claimed if the logistics costs can be reduced by 25 per cent, it is possible to increase Bangladesh’s export growth by 20 per cent even as she maintained Bangladesh ranked 100th out of 160 countries in the Logistics Performance Index.
The Global Lead of the Regional Connectivity and Logistics Knowledge Group at the World Bank further reportedly said it was possible to reduce the cost of logistics by coordinating the road communication system by reducing traffic congestion and modernising the trucking system while also adding now is the right time to take integrated initiatives for rail and waterway systems to develop a multimodal logistics system.
