
Flipkart Group’s digital B2B marketplace Flipkart Wholesale on Wednesday announced that it commences its operations.
The company shared in a statement that the core purpose of the platform will be to connect local manufacturers with retailers and bring the entire wholesale marketplace at their fingertips with the use of technology.
Currently available for fashion retailers including apparel and footwear in Delhi, Gurugram and Bengaluru, Flipkart Wholesale has been planned to expand to Mumbai as well.
So far as the company’s immediate plans regarding the B2B digital platform are concerned, it targets to onboard more than 300 strategic partners and have over 2,00,000 listings in 2 months.
In addition, Flipkart Wholesale will also allow 50 brands and more than 250 local manufacturers to associate with it soon.
A ‘one-stop solution for the retail ecosystem’ as called by the company, the platform will be providing ‘Indian businesses a wide selection of products at significant value, powered by technology and with an aim to grow their business’.
Commenting on the digital marketplace, Adarsh Menon, Senior Vice President and Head, Flipkart Wholesale, highlighted that it is aimed at “bringing prosperity to Indian kiranas and MSMEs (micro, small and medium enterprises) by making their business easier using technology.”
