
The President of the apex garment makers’ body in Bangladesh has called upon German-based global retailer Aldi to source more high-end apparels from the country.
BGMEA President Faruque Hassan made this call when a delegation of Aldi paid a visit to him recently even as he urged Aldi to explore more business with Bangladesh, especially sourcing of diversified high-end garments, while also requesting it to strengthen partnership with Bangladeshi suppliers and help building their capacities in apparel products that have greater demand in the global market.
During the meeting, Faruque Hassan also, reportedly, stated Bangladesh has earned worldwide recognition and accolades as a safe, sustainable and ethical apparel sourcing hub and in order to retain its fame and competitiveness, the apparel industry of the country has given priority to product diversification, especially focussing on non-cotton and high-end segment, innovation in product development and process optimisation.
