While many brands are hunting for sustainable alternatives, Pangaia has relaunched the ‘Seaweed’ line of T-shirts.
Seaweed is abundantly found in saltwater bodies like seas and oceans, which makes them free from consuming fresh water. Seaweed is then broken down into strands and using organic chemicals, fibres are separated. These fibres are then mixed with GOTS-certified organic cotton in a 1:8 ratio to make a unique fabric that boasts better absorption than cotton.
These T-shirts are then finished using peppermint oil that is a natural anti-bacterial solution which allows the wearer to wash them less often
After introducing their ‘Botanical’ line of T-shirts that are made from food waste, fruits and vegetables, the company has evolved into making the fabric in a sustainable way too. Once in contact with soil, the T-shirt can completely degrade in 24 weeks.
Priced at US $ 85, the ‘Seaweed’ T-shirt comes in various styles including long and short sleeves in normal or cropped lengths with 4 colour options.
