Coats, a leading industrial sewing thread manufacturer, has introduced a new line of 100 per cent recycled premium sewing named ‘EcoVerde’. Interestingly, the thread have been made from used plastic bottles which shows commitment of the thread pioneer towards making its products more eco-friendly.
According to Coats, EcoVerde is now the only globally available line of premium corespun and textured sewing threads on the market today which is 100 per cent recycled and it offers the same proven level of performance as the industry’s leading non-recycled threads.
Used plastic (PET) bottles are collected from consumers; sorted, cleaned, grounded to flakes and then melted down and extruded into the fibre and filaments from which EcoVerde sewing threads are made. “Because it consists entirely of recycled plastic fibres, Coats EcoVerde has a significantly lower carbon footprint than virgin fibres,” informs Coats adding, “No downtime, retrofitting or production slowdown is experienced by the users.”
Markedly, EcoVerde offers stronger, more durable, precisely engineered sewing with lower repair rates, lower returns to manufacturer, lower irregulars, and increased productivity. Its ability of greater abrasion resistance makes it even more relevant and preferred choice for sewing. Furthermore, low shrinkage property of these threads ensures no seam distortion after washing.
It’s worth mentioning here that EcoVerde line of sewing thread is approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and certified by Öko-Tex as well as GRS.
