The Accord on Fire and Building Safety in Bangladesh has severed ties with All Weather Fashions after the company failed to complete remediation work even after receiving notices three times.
Tariqul Islam, Managing Director of All Weather Fashions reportedly said, “During the inspection by Accord engineers, we were asked to evacuate two floors of the nine-storey building at Mohakhali in Dhaka, which we did that right away. But we shifted our production to five other floors in the same building and simultaneously we built a new factory at Pubail in Gazipur on eight bighas of land following all building codes.”
According to the platform’s policies, if a company is given three notices for remediation, its owner can no longer conduct any business with the Accord members in the same building or in the new one. Consequently, in May this year, the Accord sent a letter to All Weather Fashions severing all business ties with the company.

Islam, while hoping that Accord will permit him to start production as a special case in February next year, added that the platform gave him three letters for remediation of the old factory building, but instead of repairing the building, he constructed a new factory as his business had expanded and more space was needed.
