Announcing a new global creative strategy for the company, American fashion house Calvin Klein has also come out with the news that its Women’s Creative Director Francisco Costa and Men’s Creative Director Italo Zucchelli will be departing the company.
According to their press release, the company will “unify all Calvin Klein brands under one creative vision”. It is part of a “global evolution in the direction of the Calvin Klein brand” that began with the re-acquisition of its jeans and underwear businesses in 2013.
Calvin Klein Inc, a wholly owned subsidiary of PVH Corp, is on its path to building a $10 billion global retail sales business. And this strategy is expected to concretise its global positioning and pave the path for its future growth.
Acknowledging the designers’ contribution to the brand, Calvin Klein CEO Steve Shiffman said, “I would like to thank Francisco and Italo for their unwavering commitment to the Calvin Klein brand and their accomplishments over the past decade. They have both contributed immensely to making Calvin Klein a global leader in the fashion industry, and they have done so with dedication, focus and creativity.”
“This creative strategy marks the beginning of another significant chapter in Calvin Klein’s brand legacy since Klein’s retirement,” he said on the company’s global strategy.
While there is no official information regarding who will take over the roles, the fashion industry is abuzz with rumours of Raf Simons, who recently departed European luxury goods company Christian Dior SE, taking over the helm of affairs.
However, until a suitable successor is found, the brand’s in-house design team will run the show, under the guidance of the brand’s president Michelle Kessler-Sanders.
