Swiss retail technology, meepl, has announced that it will release access to their smartphone-enabled, 3D body scanning technology to support fashion industry SMEs from the impact of COVID-19.
The complimentary access to the software will allow brands and retailers to add made-to-measure capabilities to their services.
Moreover, the retailers will be able to overcome the challenges created due to COVID-19, improve customers’ shopping experience and encounter one of the biggest challenges for the garment industry which Is garment fit.
Customers using the tool will be able to find the right fit garment and eliminate purchase of product with sizing guessing or buying different size products.
Online shopping has taken over the market trend; however one of the biggest challenges for the industry is providing the correct fit. A wrong fitted garment sometimes leads to a bad experience for the customer.
Focusing on the challenge made-to-measure creates almost 100 per cent accurate body image in seconds using two pictures. The technology uses visual computing and deep neural network to obtain 45-150 body measurement from these two images.
Other additional services of meepl technology include size recommendations and will include a virtual dressing room experience in future. The technology helps in reducing the number of return rate due to fit issues thus saving on the financial and environment impact for the retailer.
Based on artificial intelligence (AI) and computer vision, the smartphone-based Virtual Dressing Room can create a 3D avatar of the customers on which they can try clothes digitally while shopping online.
The technologies help the online shoppers to choose the garment that fits them perfectly by digitally trying the garments.
