Shopify on Wednesday rolled out its most sophisticated generative AI utility to date—an integrated capability for merchants to create fully operational online stores by entering descriptive keywords.
Known as the ‘AI Store Builder’, the utility generates three tailored storefront designs, complete with customised images and text, significantly reducing the effort and time normally required to design an e-commerce site from scratch.
Whereas Shopify has long provided a set of AI-powered and third-party apps to assist in store creation, this is the first time the platform has released an entirely automated, built-in solution that creates an entire website setup with minimal input from the user.
Vanessa Lee, Vice President of Shopify states that instead of making traders drag and drop items or enter dozens of text boxes—which is overwhelming—why not let them tell us what they see and let the artificial intelligence figure it out.
The launch is the latest in Shopify’s drive to harness the power of AI throughout its platform. From the creation of images to tracking inventory, the company is investing heavily in AI-fueled solutions to recruit and serve a new wave of digital business owners.
