In order to let US consumers buy for the ideal look they’ve imagined, Google is launching new virtual try-on tools for apparel and makeup. With Google’s Vision Match tool, consumers in the United States will be able to match physical objects with fashion descriptors such as “colourful midi dress with big daisies.”
Lilian Rincon, VP of consumer shopping product at Google, explained that advanced AI is paving the way for highly personalised, immersive shopping experiences. This innovation helps address some of the biggest challenges, such as turning a fashion or beauty vision into reality.
“Google is introducing new AI tools to help bring fashion visions to life, from experimenting with the latest makeup to trying on clothing,” she said. She added that now, everyone in the US can shop for apparel that matches what they envision in their minds.
Rincon explained that if a user doesn’t find the product they’re envisioning in the ads or organic search results, they now have the option to use the Vision Match tool. This allows them to adjust and use Generative AI to recommend products that match their visualisation.
She pointed out that nearly 1 in 5 apparel searches on Google consist of five or more words and added that this trend highlights how people are increasingly looking for very specific items.
