There are nearly 800 GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified companies in India covering the entire supply chain from cotton to the final product. But despite growing awareness over organic across the world, very few Indian apparel exporters have major focus on this category. Surprisingly, a big chunk of wholesalers/importers who have not switched over to organic, are still doing business with niche brands/customers, while those apparel exporters who are already doing organic clothing from years, are facing challenges at various levels. Apparel Online brings forth the latest picture of organic clothing in India. Money is though the biggest motivation factor in the minds of workers, along with care, respect, sense of gratitude and feeling of partnership seldom seen in most industries today, there was excitement at the Orient Craft’s Noida factory when thousands of its workers enjoyed the presence of CMD Sudhir Dhingra among them along with senior staff members of the company. The event focused on Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Rules 2013, Health and Safety, Motivational & Behavioural Session among other issues. Aider NGO was partner in this seminar and played an active role in contributing to the overall activities in the factory. Team AOwhich was present at the event witnessed highly motivated workers, inspired and re-energized through this unique endeavour. Besides the above, our regular columns of Mind Tree, Fashion Trends, H2F, Industry Wire, Resource Centre, Export Statistics, etc. make the issue worth reading.
