It is a pleasure to present to you the latest edition of AOB containing the growth story of knit apparels in Bangladesh with 61% increase in value since 2009-10 to 2012-13. The trend continued with the product’s exports increasing in value from January to June 2014, both to Europe by 16% and the US by 15%. The apparel manufacturers have not only added capacities but are also adding value to the garments through printing, embroidery, washing and finishing to the end product, and going towards ‘greener’ products as buyers prefer products made in sustainable and compliant facilities. AO interacted with some of the leading knit apparel manufacturers and exporters of the country. A two-day ‘Denim Expo’ enthralled some of the serious and absolutely relevant visitors from India, Bangladesh and other countries including Pakistan, Thailand, China and Sri Lanka, along with technology, accessories and dye providers from the US, Italy, Germany which gave an international feel to the show.
