Venezuela-based Carolina Herrera aimed to showcase the strength of its clientele during its runway presentation at New York Fashion Week. The collection featured sleek silhouettes that were precise and immaculate, reflecting the modern woman’s clarity and determination. Ruffles were reimagined with an architectural twist, adding a touch of dramatic elegance.
Wes Gordon, the creative director, emphasised the theme of beauty as power and power as beauty for this season’s designs. He envisioned each look to exude a sense of empowerment and strength. In his sixth year at the fashion house, Gordon has honed his ability to satisfy Carolina Herrera’s vision while staying true to the essence of the brand that she cultivated over nearly four decades.
Gordon shared that his goal is to interpret modern elegance in a way that resonates with today’s woman, mirroring Herrera’s classic fashion statement. The collection drew inspiration from a 19th-century gouache painting of a pink peony, featuring the motif on garments in varying scales and colours.
With nearly 50 brands presenting their collections at New York Fashion Week: The Shows, the event continues to be a platform for designers to showcase their creativity and innovation until 14th February.
