Italian RTW retailer United Colors of Benetton is all set to stage its first-ever runway show with the artistic direction of fashion designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, who became a part of the company in October 2018.
The show will mark the start of Milan Fashion Week and will be held on Feb. 19, during the 6.30 pm slot.
The appointment of de Castelbajac as the in-charge of both women’s and men’s collections, is a major development for the retailer after the rehiring of Luciano Benetton as the chairman of the group in January 2018.

The designer rose to fame with his first launched his brand Ko & Co that was co-founded his mother Jeanne-Blanche de Castelbajac in 1968 in Limoges. He has been catalytic in inspiring major fashion revolutions such as the “anti-fashion” movement and the radical use of daily objects such as rags and sponges for ornamentation of garments.
Later on, he went ahead to co-found Iceberg in 1974 followed by launching his namesake brand, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, which he exited in 2016. Over the long experience in the industry, he has been associated with Ellesse, Max Mara, Rossignol, Courrèges, and Le Coq Sportif. His signatory design language showcases a blend of punk and pop references, which is highly compatible with Benetton’s use of strong colors and a whimsical and irreverent touch.
