Papa Don’t Preach’s latest Bridal Couture collection marks a homecoming to the brand’s artistic roots where Art Deco influences converge with henna art and where traditional khakas and motifs find new expression through modern craftsmanship.
Each couture piece features exquisite hand embroidery, hand beading with applique detailing, intricate 3D threadwork that fuses aari and zardozi embroidery techniques with traditional mirror work meeting new-age 3D laser-cut metallic rosebuds. The result is a vibrant love letter to Indian artistry that has been reimagined through the brand’s Founder, Shubhika Sharma’s lens, for the modern bride.
The collection features fabrics ranging from Matka Silk and Raw Silk to Tulle and Organza, draped into pre-draped sarees with waterfall trails, embellished bodycon gowns with dainty capes, statement jumpsuits and bridal lehengas that shimmer with 20,000 hand-strung glass-cut beaded cholis.
For the groom, this season celebrates a daring union of shine and subtlety where everything from sequined bandis featuring beaded floral pops on ombré kurtas for playful pre-wedding moments, to sherwanis sculpted in silk and velvet, explores a rich tapestry of textures.
Art Deco-inspired silver metallic motifs are delicately inlaid with glass beads, creating a dialogue between opulence and restraint.
The overall colour palette showcases a refined balance between soft teals and baby yellows to rosebud pinks, moss greens, to culminate in a majestic beige and gold sherwani. Crafted in velvets, sequined fabrics and muted silks, Papa Don’t Preach’s latest menswear offering caters to the men of today who are unafraid to command attention with floral, rosebud and lion motifs that celebrate strength and sensibility alike.
“Every piece carries the Papa Don’t Preach signature spirit – adventurous yet poised, and for me, the highlights of this collection lie in the metallic back harnesses – hand-moulded pieces that celebrate the beautiful arches of a woman’s back while a delicate tulle trail flows behind, creating a vision that is sensual, powerful and divine all at once and the double waist belts with the Papa Don’t Preach magic potion logo, pockets and statement corseted cholis,” Shubhika Sharma, Founder of Papa Don’t Preach said.
The collection launched with an exclusive campaign that was created in collaboration with Natania Lalwani, the incredible singer, songwriter and producer who has worked with the likes of Nick Jonas, Rihanna and DJ Khaled. Natania gifted Shubhika the Haule Haule track exclusively for Papa Don’t Preach’s campaign film – a track that perfectly captures the essence of this collection: a love that doesn’t consume you, but elevates you.
