
The Bangladesh Garment Buying House Association (BGBA) has successfully concluded its Executive Committee election for the 2026–2028 term which was held at the UCB Lounge of the Uttara Club. A total of 513 general members cast their votes, electing eight candidates from a field of 15 contestants. In line with the association’s election rules, 13 candidates were elected uncontested.
Representatives from the Ministry of Commerce and the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) observed the election process throughout the day. Officials from major industry bodies, including the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA), Bangladesh Apparel Fabric Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BAFFA) and other stakeholder organisations, were also present to ensure transparency and compliance with regulatory requirements.
The Election Board said the final and complete results of the election would be officially published on 17th January 2026.
It also expressed appreciation for the discipline, cooperation and active participation of BGBA members, candidates, observers and all stakeholders during the election process.
According to the preliminary results, Md Abdul Hamid was elected president, Mohammed Zakir Hossain senior vice-president, Md Roman Mia vice-president (administration) and Md Emdadul Huque Miazi vice-president (finance).
BGBA said it looked forward to working with the newly elected leadership to further strengthen the association and to advance the interests of Bangladesh’s garment buying house sector in both domestic and international markets.
