Activewear company TechnoSport and the Odisha Government have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the presence of Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Manjhi, stating that TechnoSport would invest Rs. 100 crore (US $ 11.51 million) over the course of the following three years to establish a cutting-edge activewear manufacturing plant in Odisha.
More than 1,000 jobs are anticipated to be created by this project, which will greatly advance the state’s goals of equitable development and industrial growth. TechnoSport’s future facility will be housed in a world-class industrial estate with plug and play infrastructure, which is expected to produce over Rs. 7,000 crore (US $ 806 million) in domestic revenues, enable over US $ 100 million in exports and create over 20,000 direct jobs.
In addition to direct employment, the estate will have a training centre run by a nearby university, which will allow employees to pursue technical education while working, giving them access to degrees, upskilling opportunities and career mobility. A “Smart Factory” with rigorous traceability and reasonable semi-automation for clothing production will be made possible by the government’s plug-and-play infrastructure. With a goal of hiring more than 80% women, it will run on renewable energy. Additionally, all created fabric waste will be recycled in a closed-loop manner. TechnoSport and the state both benefit from this project, which promotes mutual growth, job creation and skill development.
TechnoSport decided to enter Odisha because of the state’s large pool of highly qualified workers, particularly in the clothing industry, as well as its proactive, business-friendly laws and transparent governance.
Speaking on the MoU, Sunil Jhunjhunwala, Co-Founder and Managing Director of TechnoSport, highlighted the growing demand for high-performance, affordable activewear in India and global markets, stating that TechnoSport is laying the groundwork in terms of infrastructure, talent and ecosystem to meet this surge. Jhunjhunwala also pointed out that Odisha presents an ideal environment for such an initiative, offering a skilled workforce, supportive governance and a scalable industrial vision.
