Two Italian fashion companies, Rino Mastrotto (partly-owned by Prada) and Gruppo Marzatto have joined hands to foray into the home textiles sector. With this collaboration, both firms will be launching a new company, Jacqart-Trame D’ Arredo.
In addition, the forming of this new company involves the further merger of Imatex (a company under Rino Mastrotto) and Prosetex (a part of the Gruppo Marzatto). Following this merger, Prosetex’s business unit will be transferred to Imatex, as a result of which Rino Mastrotto will own 60% of the new company and 40% of it will go to Gruppo Marzatto. This transaction is scheduled to be completed by the third quarter of this year but subject to the fulfillment of certain conditions.
This merger will be overseen by Giorgio Meda, who is the director of textile operations at Rubelli and CEO Massimo Maestroni, who has over a decade of experience in the luxury furniture industry.
Speaking on their partnership, Matteo Mastrotto, CEO, Rino Mastrotto expressed that this partnership will help them add velvets to their interior design fabrics and will further give room for combined expertise from both the brands. Mastrotto also added that given the demand for a concrete and reliable supply chain in the interior design industry, this partnership will have both the Italian houses working on a similar issue.
Davide Favrin, CEO, Marzotto Group, also expressed thoughts on the same lines by saying that this partnership will lead to the growth in the home textile sector. With the new company, Jacqart-Trame D’ Arredo deriving its name from two words ‘jacquard’ and ‘art’, this collaboration built on the shared focus of offering rich craftsmanship might witness early retirements but no staff cuts are planned. However, their employees will be required to work from the new location, Bulciago, where Prosetex is placed.
