Lt. General KT Parnaik, the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, and Darshana Vikram Jardosh, the Union Minister of State for Textiles, reviewed important projects at a meeting held at Raj Bhavan in Itanagar, according to a Raj Bhavan communiqué. The state’s textile industry was among the main topics discussed.
Governor Parnaik emphasised the Industry Ministry’s critical role in bolstering the regional industrial ecosystem, with a focus on the thriving textile sector. Acknowledging the significant role that women in Arunachal Pradesh play in the textile industry, he underlined that the Ministry’s proactive approach will genuinely strengthen ‘Atmanirbhartha’ (self-reliance) in them.
In addition to highlighting the need to promote Arunachal Pradesh’s traditional textiles, the Governor promoted the development of micro and small businesses in the region, arguing that these will be the main source of new job possibilities, with a particular emphasis on the empowerment of women.
The Governor was briefed by the Union Minister on the steps being taken by the Textile Ministry to advance the textile industry through marketing and training.
