The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) has constituted a nodal committee to expedite the implementation of Phase 2 of the PM MITRA Textile Park at Amravati. The move follows the issuance of a recent circular outlining the committee’s mandate to accelerate project execution and stakeholder engagement.
According to the circular, the nodal committee will be responsible for overseeing the preparation of the detailed project report, securing statutory approvals and permits, and managing publicity and marketing activities for the project. The committee will include senior officials such as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer–4 and the Chief Engineer, among others.
In addition to infrastructure planning and development, the committee will coordinate closely with the central project management committee, the park monitoring committee and the project approval committee. It will also conduct outreach initiatives, including round-table conferences and promotional campaigns, to attract investors and industry participants.
The PM MITRA (Pradhan Mantri Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel) scheme has received approval from the central government for the establishment of textile parks across seven states. Maharashtra’s only PM MITRA Textile Park is being developed at Amravati as a brownfield project with an estimated investment of ₹1,492 crore, spread over 1,020 acres. The project is expected to generate employment for nearly 200,000 people.
Commenting on the development, Vidarbha Industries Association (VIA) President Prashant Mohota said that Phase 1 of the PM MITRA Textile Park at Amravati had been implemented over 900 acres, while Phase 2 was being developed across an additional 1,000 acres. He added that the project was expected to provide a critical boost to textile projects in the Vidarbha region, which has been seeking renewed industrial momentum.
