
A flagship company of the Aditya Birla Group, Hindalco Industries, has committed to investing Rs. 200 crore (US $ 23.03 million) to establish apparel manufacturing facilities in the Odisha districts of Keonjhar and Sambalpur.
At the Odisha TEX 2025 event, two separate memoranda of understanding (MoUs) were formally signed in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. Ardhendu Mahapatra, President (Corporate Affairs) of Hindalco Industries, and BS Poonia, Principal Secretary of the Department of Skill Development and Technical Education, exchanged the agreements.
According to the agreements, Hindalco will invest Rs. 100 crore (US $ 11.51 million) in each district to set up new textile units, creating 2,400 direct jobs. With this action, the company’s footprint in Odisha is further strengthened. Hindalco reaffirmed its commitment to expanding employment opportunities in the state through ongoing collaboration with the government.
In addition to operating a textile mill in Mancheswar, the company is currently building a second facility at Kanshariguda, which is close to the Aditya alumina refinery in Rayagada. It is anticipated that 3,000 local women will be employed by the new operation.
