
Journey Outdoors Bangladesh Co. Ltd., backed by investors from China and Singapore, has announced plans to invest US $ 27.57 million to set up a high-end clothing and outdoor goods manufacturing facility in the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) Economic Zone at Mirsharai, Chattogram.
The company became the 50th enterprise to sign a lease agreement within the BEPZA Economic Zone. The contract was signed on Tuesday at the BEPZA Complex by Han JunXiao, Managing Director of Journey Outdoors Bangladesh Co. Ltd., and Md Ashraful Kabir, Member (Investment Promotion) of BEPZA, in the presence of Major General Mohammad Moazzem Hossain, Executive Chairman of BEPZA.
The upcoming facility will manufacture 16 million pieces of premium apparel and outdoor products annually, including T-shirts, polo shirts, outerwear, ski wear, yoga and running outfits, jeans, backpacks, tents, sleeping bags, hats, gloves and scarves. The project is expected to generate 3,467 local jobs, significantly contributing to employment and industrial diversification in the region.
BEPZA’s Executive Chairman expressed appreciation to Journey Outdoors Bangladesh for choosing to invest in the Economic Zone and reaffirmed BEPZA’s commitment to providing investors with world-class services and a secure, business-friendly environment.
With this latest agreement, the BEPZA Economic Zone has now attracted an estimated US $ 1.11 billion in total projected investment from 50 enterprises, underscoring its growing role as a magnet for diverse international industries.
The signing ceremony was also attended by Abdullah Al Mamun (Member, Engineering), ANM Foyzul Haque (Member, Finance), Md Khorshid Alam (Executive Director, Enterprise Services), Samir Biswas (Executive Director, Administration), ASM Anwar Parvez (Executive Director, Public Relations), and representatives of Journey Outdoors Bangladesh Co. Ltd.
