The first phase of infrastructure development at the PM MITRA Textile Park in Amravati has been completed, marking a key milestone in the government’s push to build integrated textile manufacturing hubs across India.
Union Textiles Secretary Neelam Shami Rao visited the site and expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far. Spread across 1,020 acres, the park has completed several core infrastructure components, including internal roads, drainage networks, underground cable laying, street lighting and water supply systems.
Officials said the park is being developed as a comprehensive textile ecosystem designed to attract large-scale investment and streamline manufacturing, processing and logistics within a single location.
Plans are also underway to establish a 100-acre solar power plant within the park to support sustainable energy needs. In addition, a Dutch company is set to invest in a cotton processing and research and development centre across 66 acres, further strengthening the park’s focus on value-added textile manufacturing and innovation.
Ashish Yerekar, District Collector of Amravati, highlighted the project’s potential to drive industrial expansion in the region and generate employment opportunities once operational.
The PM MITRA initiative—short for Prime Minister Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel Parks—is a flagship programme of the Government of India aimed at strengthening the country’s textile manufacturing ecosystem. The scheme proposes the establishment of seven large integrated textile parks across the country, designed to bring together the entire textile value chain from fibre to finished products in a single location.
The Amravati park is among the key projects under the scheme and is expected to play an important role in boosting textile manufacturing and industrial development in the region once fully operational.
