French sports retailer Decathlon ventures into the non-fungible token (NFT) space for the second time with the launch of ‘Rockrider Geocaching Game,’ a limited NFT hunt powered by the Tezos blockchain. This follows their earlier collaboration, ‘Kipsta Barrio,’ a collection of 2,008 Tezos-based NFTs created alongside French freestyler Séan Garnier.
The new ‘Rockrider Geocaching Game’ invites participants to seek out digital collectibles, restricted to just 1,000 in quantity. It enhances the geocaching activity by integrating NFTs into the game, where GPS activation triggers a map displaying nearby digital collectibles and their availability at specific locations.
Participants uncovering at least one collectible gain access to the Rockrider Community, unlocking exclusive benefits such as early access to upcoming collections, participation in product test missions shaping future offerings, and collaboration opportunities with the Rockrider team.
The game operates on the Tezos blockchain, an open-source platform facilitating peer-to-peer transactions and supporting smart contracts, and is open to mainland Europe only. The participation of Tezos, known for its energy-efficient and self-modifying blockchain, underlines Decathlon’s commitment to sustainable and forward-looking digital solutions.
