Columbia Sportswear, a leading innovator across apparel and footwear, has rolled out the new Omni-Heat Black Dot technology – a thermal shield that offers protecting from cold.
The new textile features thousands of multilayered black dots that capture the solar heat and trap warmth to keep wearer warm.
This development combines the Columbia’s Omni-Heat 3D thermal-reflective lining making the textile act as a heat magnet. The new collection of men’s and women’s Omni-Heat Black Dot jackets is the company’s most advanced development for fighting the cold this winter.
The multilayered dots that keep wearer warm are made of aluminium and are covered with a black coating that absorbs the heat from scattered or direct sunlight.
The jacket has been tested in the laboratory and heats up quickly and holds heat longer than jackets without this new technology.
The company in its inaugural session will be offering three cutting edge Omni-Heat Black Dot jackets.
The first is Dawn Watch Black Dot Jacket, which combines Columbia’s three technologies including an Omni-Heat Black Dot outer layer, advanced thermal-reflective Omni-Heat 3D lining and Omni-Heat Stretch Insulation that are designed for ultimate warmth. These are suitable for coldest days and retails for US $ 350.
The second is Barrett Spur Black Dot Parka – Columbia’s most luxe Black Dot style that offers 700 fill-power responsibly sourced down and a plush faux fur trim. It features the complete suite of Columbia technologies including an Omni-Heat Black Dot, advanced thermal-reflective Omni-Heat 3D lining and Omni-Heat Stretch Insulation. These are suitable for maximum warmth and protection and retails for US $ 600.
The third is the three Forks Black Dot Jacket that features a combination of cold-defeating technologies, including a heat-capturing Omni-Heat Black Dot exterior, advanced thermal-reflective Omni-Heat 3D lining and the enhanced warmth and flexible comfort of Omni-Heat Stretch Insulation. Available later this fall, it will retail for US $ 280.
