It is a pleasure to present to you the current issue of the magazine which highlights two separate stories under the head ‘Sustainability’. Surviving the present competition and sinking profits, it is high time that the companies value their ‘human force’ as ‘assets’. Also it is equally important that exporters, in order to enhance profits, should ‘have a relook on their Finance and Cost Management’ – limiting overheads, cost control efforts, including the fabric wastage, and sharp costing. Also highlighted is the profound role of the HR, emphasis on importance of dependence, independence and inter-dependence at work place, besides supporting human resources as ‘assets’. Stressing for major changes in the overall way the HR Departments in apparel companies function, HR experts feel that within the ‘lala culture’, things are changing for the betterment and faster than many may believe so. Also covered in the issue is the annual conference of state textiles ministers, organized recently in Delhi by the MoT. Textiles ministers from 9 states and concerned senior officers from 16 other states converged to formulate a strategy for exploiting the potential of the textiles sector… But sadly, what was completely missing in the discussions was the focus on apparel and textile manufacturing and export, so feels Team AO, present to cover the event live. Besides the above, our regular columns of Mind Tree, H2F, Fashion Trends, Industry Wire, Resource Centre, Export Statistics, etc. make the issue worth reading.
