E-commerce enablement platform, Shiprocket, has connected its seller app with the government-backed Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) network.
With this partnership, Shiprocket will make it easier for vendors to join the ONDC network. It intends to enable five ONDC categories, including fashion, electronics, wellness, home & kitchen, beauty & personal care, and fashion.
Commenting on the association, Saahil Goel, CEO co-founder of Shiprocket in a statement said, “Shiprocket was one of the initial players to integrate into the ONDC network and the first one to enable intercity logistics in India. We share the same mission of democratising e-commerce for Indian merchants as ONDC.”
T Koshy, managing director CEO of ONDC added, “With the e-commerce wave sweeping through the country, we are on a mission to level the playing field for online and offline sellers to ride this wave of success. In this pursuit of enabling ease of doing business for sellers, Shiprocket’s seller app will help them to sell their products on ONDC in a way that is seamless, secure, and cost-effective.”
The government’s Department for the Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade introduced ONDC in December 2021. It is intended to group products that are offered from several e-commerce platforms so that customers can choose without the market being controlled by large corporations.
