Jo-Ann, an American specialty retailer of crafts and fabrics, recently implemented BOPIS solution called – FlyBuy. The retailer has partnered with Radius Networks – a location technology providing company – to launch the location-based curbside pickup solution.
The BOPIS technology allows Jo-Ann to know customer’s ETA when they are going to pick up an order from the store. Based on these arrival times estimation, the retailer can prioritise order fulfillment, deliver orders without in-person contact with customers.
According to Jo-Ann, it has been able to reduce the order waiting time of some customers to less than a minute since the introduction of the technology, while, over 80 per cent of all the customers across USA have waited just under 3 minutes to pick up their orders.
It’s worth mentioning here that the holiday season has begun in the USA with Halloween and Jo-Ann aimed at having an automated order-ahead system in place to see a quick order fulfillment with minimum human touch, during COVID-19 times.
The need of contactless technology was already there as, according to a survey done by SurveyGizmo and Blackfriday.com, over 50 per cent respondents stated they would use curbside or contactless pickup all through this holiday season.
“Now we know when our customers would arrive at stores, which has allowed us to become more efficient,” said Melissa Cook, Director of Omni Channel & Store Process, Jo-Ann.
