Turkey-based company, Yilmak, known for creating textile industry equipment has partnered with Xeros, a UK-based materials science company to work on XFN, a new finishing innovation focused on less environmental damage.
XFN finishing technology will incorporate more strength and tear resistance in the fabric while making it softer and limiting the use of excess water and chemicals. XFN uses patented polymer spheres, dubbed XOrbs resulting in the replacement of pumice stones in the finishing process which barely lasts for a few cycles.
This technology is functional for fabrics like denim and as per the conducted test, it has been shown to conserve 50 per cent of the water used in finishing.
Neil Austin, CEO of Xeros expressed his excitement about signing the contract with Yilmak and bringing this much-needed transforming technology for global use while also minimising the use of water consumption.
Further, the general manager of sales and marketing of Yilmak, M. Furkan Civelek commented on this partnership hoping that this innovation will revolutionise the dynamic of the denim washing industry in the coming years.
