Shima Seiki Mfg., Ltd. a leading knitting solution provider, announces the release of the next generation SDS-ONE APEX series 3D computer graphic apparel design system.
Initially introduced as a prototype at ITMA 2019, the fourth generation of its series SDS-ONE APEX4 is now officially launched.
The updated version of the software promises improved efficiency when compared to the previous model.
It features 6X increase in the processing speed for programming that responds to the ever-changing market needs. Besides, it is equipped with special functions dedicated to the planning and designing of apparels and other textiles.
The APEX4 utilises the latest technology like AI assisting in better image searching for planning and design.
Furthermore, built on Shima Seiki ‘Total Fashion Concept’, APEX4 digitises the whole apparel production process from planning, design and production to sales promotion and retail sales and provides better digital communication.
Its capability for virtual sampling is especially effective in streamlining the production process. Superreal simulation allows the use of virtual samples to replace actual samples in evaluating design variations, thereby minimising the tremendous time, cost and material normally required with samplemaking.
The extra amount of time saved in sampling can be utilised in other processes like production planning that will improve accuracy while predicting the consumers’ demands and trends.
On the retail side, the virtual samples can be used to gauge customer acceptance of upcoming products, data for which can be used for forecasting demand. Such feedback can then be used to adjust the amount of inventory so that there is a balanced inventory.
